Hondo
Greetings.
I
just came acroos this site and just wanted to say how surprised
I was to find it.
I
was one of the founder members of a Cambridge band called
Hondo. It was a 8 or 9 piece reggae/rock band. We recorded
at Spaceward three times. I can't quite remember the dates,
but we recorded, firstly at Clarendon St in Apr-May 1980.
The first time we recorded a single which went out on Mirror
Records. The A side was 'Jah Jah's Children' with the track
'Hondo' on the B side. Hondo means revolution in some African
language, I remember John Murape came up with the name when
we first began rehearsals above Barneys clothes shop in Mill
Rd.
The
second recording was another single 'What do we want? (We don't
want no war)' and then in Stretham we recorded a track called
'Party' This was a track used for the Cambridge Compilation
album, Honey For Tea. [Wimp
Records X82CUS1526] Track Recorded 26.2.82
